Our Process
The Turtle’s Nest is a multi-disciplinary team of specially trained professionals from police, child protection and victim services. When an investigation is initiated by police and/or child protection services, the CYAC Coordinator is contacted to arrange a visit at the Centre. Upon arriving at the Centre, children and their non-offending caregiver are met by the CYAC Coordinator who provides a site tour, refreshments and information. While the child/youth is being interviewed, the CYAC Coordinator can meet with the family/caregiver to provide support, answer questions and offer referrals.
If criminal charges are laid a referral from the Victim Witness Assistance Program can be made to the Child Victim Witness (CVW) program at the Turtle’s Nest. Our CVW Coordinator will meet with children and their families offering support through the court process assisting them with preparing to testify.
